TWO schoolboys have been arrested after a teenager was attacked and had his belongings stolen in Sol Joel Park last week.

An 18-year-old was walking in the popular park when he was approached by a gang of three people. The group attacked him before stealing his bicycle and rucksack.

The victim chased after his attackers in a bid to retrieve his belongings on September 18, but he was beaten up again once he reached them.

Investigating police officers revealed two 15-year-old boys have been arrested and quizzed over the incident.

A spokesman for Thames Valley Police said: "At around 8pm on Monday, September 18 three males approached the victim, an 18-year-old man, as he was walking in Sol Joel Park and assaulted him.

“The three men stole the victim's bike and rucksack. The offenders then ran off towards Wokingham Road, and he was then assaulted again."

The victim suffered minor injuries in the assault and officers still want to speak to anyone who witnesses the attack.

He did not need to go to hospital.

The spokesman continued: "On Wednesday, September 19 two 15-year-old boys were arrested in Reading on suspicion of robbery in connection with this incident.

"Both have been released under investigation.

"Officers are investigating the incident and anyone who has any information about it should call police on 101 or the independent charity Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800555111, quoting reference number 43170277567."
