COMMUTERS will be pleased to learn that Loddon Bridge Road is set to reopen after nearly a month of delays and diversions.

The route is expected to reopen from Bank Holiday Monday (May 1).

The essential Woodley road has been off limits to drivers since April 3, as Scottish and Southern Energy (SSE) installed circuit power ducts.

Kevin Kitchen, project manager for SSE, said: "We will be reinstating over the weekend and clearing up, so as long as nothing happens the road will be open on Monday."

Junctions with The George to Coppice Road have been closed for nearly a month, with the works scheduled to coincide with the Easter school holidays.

Residential and business access remained throughout the duration of the works.
