A DEVOTED sister kick-started a fundraising campaign to raise money to buy her disabled little brother a specialist tricycle.

Finlay Bennett, from Twyford, suffers from a rare condition called agenesis of the corpus callosum, which has prevented two halves of his brain fusing together.

The condition impairs his mobility and means he cannot ride a bike, sit, or even stand up without support.

His 17-year-old sister, Megan, set up the JustGiving page to help raise the funds to buy the seven year-old a specialist tricycle which will help him to stand without support.

Their proud parents Andrew and Kristina said: “Megan took it upon herself to get him one. If we can buy this tricycle it will help Finlay learn what his legs are for and one day he'll hopefully be able to bare weight without support.

“He's just a smashing little lad and his big sister is amazing with him. He loves the outdoors and the bike would enable us to pull him along and get him to peddle himself.

“It's amazing the support that we've got. It's blown us away how many people have been willing to help.”

Mr and Mrs Bennett praised Addington School in Woodley, where young Finlay is a pupil, after staff arranged for a specialist to come in with a similar bike the seven-year-old could try.

They lauded parents at the Woodlands Avenue school for their generosity, raising cash through sponsored swims and running marathons.

The Quest Trike will cost around £1,346.
