A WOMAN in her thirties was rushed to hospital after colliding with a taxi in Earley this morning (March 4).

Crews from Wokingham Road and Whitley Wood attended the incident on Wilderness Road at around 3am, reporting extensive damage to both vehicles and an oil spillage.

The road was temporarily closed while both drivers were treated and fire crews removed oil from the road surface.

The female driver received oxygen therapy and first aid before being taken to Royal Berkshire Hospital for further treatment, while the taxi driver sustained minor injuries.

Robin Jordan, Watch Manager for Wokingham Road, said: "We attended a road traffic collision on Wilderness Road in Earley this morning at about 3am.

"There were two vehicles involved, one was a taxi and the other was a Honda car, being driven by a woman in her thirties.

"Everybody was out of their vehicles by the time we arrived. The female driver was given first aid and oxygen therapy, before being taken to hospital by ambulance.

"We had to clear up an oil spillage and we closed the road for a short while.

"The taxi driver sustained minor injuries and the other driver was recovering thanks to the oxygen."
