A TEENAGER was taken to hospital last week after being attacked by a dog in Earley.

The youngster was playing football in Chalfont Park when the dog, believed to be a black and brown Rottweiler, approached him.

The dog was unaccompanied and bit the 13-year-old on the arm, causing a "distressing and painful"puncture wound.

He was taken to Royal Berkshire Hospital following the incident at around 5.30pm on Wednesday February 24 but he has since been discharged.

Detectives are appealing for witnesses to come forward.

Police constable Alister Little said: "This was a very distressing and painful incident for the victim who required hospital treatment for his injuries.

"We would like to hear from anyone who may have witnessed this incident or think they may recognise the description of the dog involved.

"Anyone with any information should contact me via the 24-hour Thames Valley Police enquiry line on 101.
