JEWELLERY thieves are being hunted by police after a string of burglaries across West Berkshire.

Precious valuables and cash have been ransacked from scores of homes in isolated areas.

The spate of thefts began on May 25 when offenders forced their way into a home in Mariners Lane, Tutts Clump, in broad daylight.

Then, shortly before midday on May 30, thieves raided a property in Stoney Lane, Thatcham.

On June 2, sometime between 9.15am and 12am, thieves ransacked a home in Board Lane, Newbury.

It is believed a silver saloon-style car has been used in the raids.

A police spokesman said: "Between 13 May and 2 June, there were three burglaries across rural areas in West Berkshire. These have been in daylight hours and jewellery and cash have been taken from homes which are all in isolated areas.

"Officers are investigating the incidents at the moment, and would like to hear from anyone with information about the burglaries.
