AN INSPIRATIONAL woman diagnosed with Parkinson's disease eight years ago will take to the skies strapped to the wings of a biplane despite being scared of heights.

Bridget Beckett will soar 1,200 feet into the sky as she takes part in a charity wing walk in aid of the UK's largest Parkinson's charity.

The 56-year-old thrill-seeker has already taken on a charity tandem skydive for Parkinson's UK but has decided to go one step further with her next challenge.

“I was diagnosed in 2009 and knew very little about Parkinson’s," she said.

"Parkinson’s UK has been a great source of information and support.

"I want to raise funds and awareness about Parkinson’s and the ways it can impact on people's lives.

"I decided to challenge myself by doing a wing walk.

"I don't like heights so what better a challenge.

"The more money I can raise the easier it will be to stand on that wing."

Strapped to the wing of Boeing Stearman biplane she will launch into the sky above Compton Abbas Airfield on Saturday, May 20.

The Thatcham daredevil hopes to raise £1,000 with the challenge. Click here to visit her JustGiving page.

There' still time for you to join her on the Parkinson's UK wing walk. Registration costs £100 and would-be wing walkers must raise £750 in sponsorship.

Paul Jackson-Clark, Director of Fundraising at Parkinson’s UK, said: "I would like to say thank you and good luck to Bridget for her wing walk, I hope she enjoys the experience.

"A wing walk is a great way to take to the skies in style and raise vital funds at the same time.

"Everyone who takes part will be helping our work to find a cure and improve life for everyone affected by Parkinson's."
