A YOUNG woman had her phone stolen by three attackers in broad daylight in Newbury on Saturday (April 8).

The 19-year-old victim suffered a cut lip after a group of men grabbed her phone and fled the scene on Kingsbridge Road at around 6.45pm.

One of the men put his hand over her mouth after she shouted to let her go, before another took the phone from her hand.

The woman was using her phone on the junction of Kingsbridge Road and Enborne Road when she spotted a man.

He returned with two other attackers, before being chased by the woman in the direction of Fifth Road, who eventually lost sight of the group on Buckingham Road.

Investigating officers found her phone after revisiting the scene with the victim.

She sustained a cut lip as a result of the incident, but did not require hospital.

Police are appealing for witnesses following the robbery and have issued a description of the attackers.

The first man is white, aged about 24 to 26, with an average build and short dark brown hair.

He may have had tattoos on his neck and right forearm and was wearing light grey tracksuit bottoms and a grey zip-up top.

The second man was white, with black hair and was wearing black tracksuit bottoms and a blue jumper.

The third man was white, with dark brown hair, aged about 26 or 27 and was wearing a black Adidas tracksuit.

Tracy Cole, specialist investigator, said: “Saturday was a warm and sunny day, and there were lots of people in the area at the time.

“I am hoping that there will be several witnesses who saw the incident, or who saw a young woman chasing after three men.

“This was obviously a frightening incident for the victim, and we are supporting her during this time.
