A WOMAN is hoping to honour her cousin by running the London Marathon dressed as a giant toilet roll.

Sue Ridgeon will tackle the 26.2 mile route later this month to raise money for Nightingale House Hospice after witnessing the care her cousin received two years ago.

Not only will Sue be taking on the grueling challenge in her costume, but she also plans to break a Guinness World Record by completing the marathon in under five hours.

Sue said: “The care my cousin received was incredible. Nothing was ever too much hassle or bother for the nurses and doctors.

“Staff were always on hand with advice and support for both my cousin and her immediate family.

“The nurses made every effort to ensure she was not in pain and was as comfortable as possible.

"The commitment which was shown to my cousin, and us as her family, throughout her illness was second to none."

Sue surpassed her initial fundraising target of £600 and she has now set her sights on collecting more than £2,000 for Nightingale House.

There will be an added incentive on Sunday, April 23, as Sue will be hoping to finish the race in less than five hours to enter the Guinness World Record Books.

This is not the first time Sue has worn an unusual outfit in the name of charity, but she is hoping her latest effort will generate a bit more attention for a worthy cause.

She added: “I have ran a half marathon dressed as the 118 man, and a 10km in a whoopie cushion costume previously, but this will be my first marathon and this costume is a little more challenging.

“I love fancy dress so there was no way I could run this event without it. I am hoping it will also encourage more donations too.”
