A GREEN-fingered Theale gardener has won a scholarship to study horticultural in the home of tulips.

Cameron Miller, a horticulture student at Sparsholt College, was awarded the £1000 scholarship from the David Colegrave Foundation (DCF).

He is studying for a Level 3 Diploma in Horticulture and is hoping to use the award to fund a trip to Holland, where he can study plant nurseries.

“I am so amazed to have been awarded this David Colgrave Foundation Scholarship," he said.

"It opens so many doors for me and provides a range of opportunities that I intend to use to their fullest. My study tour has already been booked and my passion for horticulture has been re-ignited.”

Mr Miller plans to use the money to tour Holland Jeff Colgrave, DCF Trustee, said: “This year's Scholarship Season drew in applications from students studying at 19 colleges across the UK. Those awarded are all a great investment with interests that include pests and diseases, organic growing methods, sustainability, hydroponics, plant pathology and crop management.”

The DCF Scholarship Season has been running for the past 5 years, awarding over £56,000 to successful candidates.
