ANCIENT Greeks will be flooding the streets of West Berkshire this summer for the 2017 Newbury Carnival.
After receiving dozens of applications the carnival's committee decided the best theme idea was 'Myths and Legends' suggested by Falon Whiteley via the carnival's Facebook page.
This year's carnival is due to be held on Sunday, July 16 from midday to 6pm and anyone wishing to apply for a stall at the fete is invited to do so.
Ruth Walker, project manager for Newbury Carnival 2017, said: "We had lots of fun deciding on the parade theme from the brilliant ideas given to us.
"We hope that everyone will feel inspired to enter with all sorts of great ideas around the theme of ‘Myths and Legends’, which in addition to the traditional meaning, may include someone or something that can be described as a legend too."
The Carnival Parade will start at 2pm from Pound Street, with Kidstrument Musical Instrument Tuition, Thames Valley Kings Wheelchair Basketball Club and Abacus Day Nursery among those who are taking part in the parade.
