HUNDREDS of sheep were seen caught stampeding down quiet country roads in Newbury last night.
Baffled onlookers called the police after the herd broke free from their enclosure.
A pair of PCSOs were rushed to the scene and began shepherding the errant flock back to their home.
Thames Valley Police posted a video of their exploits to Facebook, saying they were called to the scene, near Newbury at 8.30pm on Wednesday, March 8.
"This is what it looks like when you bump into 250 sheep on the loose in Newbury," they wrote.
"Don’t worry, thanks to PCSO Nathan Long and PCSO Katherine Darling, the sheep were all returned to their owner.
"Not a baaaad nights work."
Armed with torches and a camera the two officers managed to safely return the herd home.
