MONTHS after closing for a £100,000 refurbishment the tennis courts in Victoria Park are set to reopen.
The Newbury courts have benefited from a major upgrade including a new playing surface and court booking system.
Dave Goff, leader of Newbury Town Council said: “We have waited a long time for this and we are very excited to at last announce that the tennis courts are ready to play on.
"We will have an official launch on Saturday 8 April 2017 with our new tennis coach and representatives from the Lawn Tennis Association.
"The icing on the cake will be the laying down of a full coloured playing surface which, subject to the weather, will be completed before the grand opening”.
The project has cost more than £100,000 with funds supplied by a legal settlement won by the council at a £39,893 grant from the Lawn Tennis Association.
The new Clubspark booking system allows users to register online to guarantee a slot when you arrive.
Clubspark membership costs £36 for a year or £6 for a single game.
