A THUG who knocked a man unconscious and fractured his eye socket has been jailed for two years.
Thomas Britzman admitted to causing grievous bodily harm and was convicted of one count of GBH at Reading Crown Court on Friday.
The 22-year-old assaulted a 29-year-old man by punching him in the Diamond Tap pub in Cheap Street, Newbury on 4 June, 2016.
The Avon Way, Newbury, man knocked his victim unconscious leaving him with a fractured eye socket, a fractured cheekbone and damage to his teeth as a result of the horrific attack.
Investigating officer Detective Constable Claire Midwinter said: “This was a nasty, unprovoked attack, which left the victim with lasting injuries.
“The sentence he has received should serve as a warning to others, and demonstrates the seriousness with which offences of this nature are treated.
“We will investigate these crimes and look to secure convictions against those who commit them.”
