A wounded man is set to face trial after he denied beating a man in a pub in a racially aggravated attack.
Grey-haired Alex Reid, 51, walked into Reading Magistrates' Court on crutches to answer the charges against him.
He sat accused of a single count of racially aggravated assault, and two counts of assault by beating.
It was alleged he attacked Joshua Khan in a racially motivated incident at Coopers Arms in Bartholomew Street, Newbury on July 23 last year.
He is also accused of beating David Reid at the same pub that day.
However, Reid, of Stuart Road, Newbury, denied the charges, and instead elected to face trial.
District Judge Edwards said: "You have entered not guilty please and the case will be heard at this court on April 3."
Reid was ordered not to visit Coopers Arms and not to contact any prosecution witnesses.
