A THIEF snatched a handbag from a young woman in Newbury before a second offender came along shortly afterwards and pushed her to the ground.

Between 12 and 12.30pm on Friday, December 15 a 21-year-old woman walking alongside the towpath at Greenham Mill towards Tesco on the A4 when a man nicked her pink handbag.

Moments later the victim was pushed to the pavement by a second offender, leaving her with minor injuries to the forehead which fortunately did not require her to have hospital treatment.

The only information the force have at present is that one of the offenders was wearing a dark top with the hood up and blue jeans.

“This was an unprovoked and frightening theft that has left the victim badly shaken,” said police constable Andy Philpott from Newbury police station.

“I would ask anyone who may have witnessed two men acting suspiciously on or around the towpath to contact me.”

Anyone with information should call 101.
