A TRIO of drivers were rushed to hospital after a Corsa was sent careening through two bollards and a wall in a three-car crash.

The 26-year-old driver was cut free from her car by firefighters after it rolled onto its side in the middle of the Tidmarsh Road.

She was rushed to the John Radcliffe Hospital with serious head injuries.

Watch manager Mark Jones from Dee Road firestation was one of the first firefighters on the scene.

He said: “We were called at 6.20pm on Tuesday, December 6, to a road traffic accident.

“When we arrived South Central Ambulance Service and the police were already in attendance.

“There were three vehicles involved, two cars and a van.

“One car suffered quite a bit, it hit at least one other vehicle, two bollards and a wall.

“It was a very difficult and complicated extraction because of the impacts from several other directions.

“We had to use two sets of cutting and spreading tools to get her out.”

The crash on the A340 between The Street and Englefield Road saw three people rushed to hospitals across Hampshire, Oxfordshire and Reading.

A South Central Ambulance spokesman said: “As a result of the collision between a white van, a Nissan Juke and a Vauxhall Corsa, the Corsa had overturned on its roof and the driver inside was trapped.

“We sent a rapid response vehicle, an officer, three ambulances and the air ambulance car to the scene.

“The driver of the Corsa, a 26-year-old female had sustained a serious head injury and was taken to the John Radcliffe Hospital, Oxford.

“Two further patients sustained less serious injuries and were taken to local hospitals.”
