Luxury lingerie is too hot for recession
A LUXURY lingerie store has defied the recession with its best year since opening in 2007.
Pudding, in Reading's The Walk, saw a particularly busy Christmas period with sales up 34% in 2009 against 2008.
As well as lingerie, Pudding stocks swimwear, nightwear and pamper products by designers, including Chloe and D&G, with prices ranging from £32 to £135 for a bra and £47 to £200+ for a set.
Joint owner Paul Masters said: "We try to have a range of things accessible to most people. We have bras starting at £32 - most people can stretch to that budget for a treat. With these products, you may be able to give yourself a treat even if you can't afford the most expensive things in life."
Helen Masters, the other joint owner, said: "We're delighted to have sales grow so well despite the recession. We have new styles coming in for 2010 in the next three months so we're having our best-ever sale this month."
