PRIMARY school pupils had a jam packed day celebrating two massive events raising hundreds of pounds for charity, writes Olivia Rennie.

Children at Caversham Prep marked Mother's Day whilst raising money for Comic Relief last Friday.

Dressing in red to mark Red Nose Day, the pupils enjoyed a baking competition organised by the school's Newspaper Club.

The fantastic cakes were judged at the start of the day before being sold out at break time.

The competition was sub-divided into three categories; Most Beautiful, Most Creative and Most Tasteful.

The winners were: Liliana and Charlie Orywal-Sykes (Most Beautiful), Eleanor Salmon (Most Creative) and Annabelle Lam (Most Tasteful).

A Mother's Day Afternoon Tea in the school garden marked the end of the fundraising day. Mums were presented with gifts, and serenaded by the school choir.

Chris Neal, Deputy Head, said: "The children always enjoy Red Nose Day and cake sales are always a treat We are delighted to have raised £201.20 for Comic Relief."
