It is believed that three offenders used gas cannisters to create an explosion before making of with their loot in the early hours of the morning.

The offenders fled with a quantity of cash in a dark-coloured vehicle, possibly an Audi.

The vehicle was seen in Sedgewell Road travelling towards Reade’s Lane. At this stage there is no further description of the offenders.

At about 4.15am police officers were called to an aggravated burglary at the Natwest Bank in Peppard Road, Sonning Common.

Investigating officer, Det Sgt Matthew Jarman of Force CID said: "Did you see a group of men in the area, or a dark coloured vehicle parked in Peppard Road or travelling at speed in Sedgewell Road towards Reade’s Lane? If you did then please call police immediately as you may have vital information that can aid our investigation.

“I reassure residents of Sonning Common that Thames Valley Police officers are currently at the scene undertaking a thorough investigation. Further, we will be conducting house to house enquiries in order to glean more information about the offence and bring the perpetrators to justice.”
