Transport chiefs are set to pump £1m into a seven-week project to patch up 19 key streets across the borough, improving journeys for drivers, pedestrians and cyclists.

The works have been planned to take place over the school summer holidays, and the council says that in some instances temporary parking restrictions will apply in the immediate vicinity of the works sites.

Borough transport boss, Cllr Tony Page, said: "“Weather conditions over the winter months have taken their toll, but we are committed to maintaining and improving surfaces to benefit motorists, cyclists, and pedestrians.

“We are very aware that repairing roads can result in disruption, especially in a busy town like Reading."
