The attack happened outside Aberdeen House, in Deveron Drive, at around 2am.
The woman, in her 30s, approached the man to ask what he was doing and an argument started between them, during which man grabbed the woman’s arm, and injured her.
Police think that other people also became involved in the altercation.
The woman sustained a broken wrist and was taken to the Royal Berkshire Hospital for treatment. She has since been discharged.
The man is described as white, aged about 20-23, 6ft tall and of slim build.
He had short spiky brown hair, a chipped front tooth and red marks on the back of his neck. He wore a white Adidas top and dark trousers.
He left in the direction of Norcot Hill.
Witnesses should call the police on 101.
