SUPER Saturday will be celebrated in Reading today with a festival featuring music, art and sport as a haul of Olympic gold medals are handed out to the world's best athletes.

The SMART (Sport, Music, Art And River Thames) Festival will be held at the Thameside Promenade in Caversham on Saturday [4], the middle weekend of the London Games and the day when the most gold medals are awarded.

Organised by The Reading 2012 Partnership Board, the free event will include art and music workshops, rowing events on the river, boats to and from Caversham Court Gardens and music from The Battle of The School Bands live final.

It is supported by Reading Borough Council, Festival Republic, and Rivermead Leisure Centre and runs from noon-6pm.

The Battle of The School Bands final takes place at the leisure centre from 7pm.

Tickets are on sale from www.readingrockacademy.com at £5 in advance.

Proceeds will go to Great Ormond Street Hospital and Cystic Fibrosis.
