TRAIN services from Reading could still be cancelled 'at short notice' due to depot problems.

Commuters faced delays and cancellations this morning because of 'depot issues' at Reading Train Station.

A First Great Western spokesman said: "Services running through this station may be cancelled or delayed by up to 20 minutes at short notice.

"Normal service will be provided as soon as the service is assessed.

"First Great Western apologies for any inconvenience caused to passengers."

A train was earlier grounded at Maidenhead train station because a passenger was unwell.

Paramedics were called to the station, where the train was stuck for 30 minutes, to remove the passenger - causing a backlog.

First Great Western tweeted: "Really sorry for delays at Maidenhead this morn. A train is stuck due to an unwell passenger. We will get everyone moving ASAP."

The company added: "Depot issues at Reading and an unwell passenger at Maidenhead. Really sorry. Jo"

One angry commuter, Michael Hagger, tweeted: "How can one ill passenger cause this much disruption and delay @FGW? It's one person!"

The train service added: "The train was stuck at Maidenhead for 30 mins as the paramedics had to come and move the customer. Trains backed up behind it."
