Motorbike destroyed in suspicious blaze
A MOTORBIKE was reduced to a 'molten' wreck in a suspected arson attack.
Firefighters from Newbury fire station were called to the blaze in the underpass off Howard Road after a lorry driver spotted the flames at 3.30pm this morning (Saturday).
By the time they arrived the bike, which was unidentifiable, was completely destroyed and had melted to the pavement. The tarmac had also started to blister and crack.
Firefighter Jamie Stevens said: "We put it out but it was a molten mess by the end."
The crew spent 45 minutes at the scene. Police are investigating but do not know if the bike was stolen.
