A CHARITY horse ride, which hoped to raise more than 60,000, has been cancelled due to bad weather.
More than 500 riders were due to descend on Windsor Great Park to take part in the Lions Club of Windsor's annual event but the torrential rain has left the ground too soft.
Organisers have negotiated with the park authorities to re-arrange the ride to take place on the weekend of October 13 and 14.
Harry Purchase, Windsor Lion, said: "It is terribly disappointing. Not because of all the effort that goes into the organisation, but the amount of money we were planning raise.
"We have requested those entering defer their fee until October so we can still hold a successful event later in the year. The Windsor Great Park authorities have been exceptionally supportive throughout."
