MOTORISTS were facing delays in west Reading after a car collided with an ambulance on a 999 call.

Police were called at 10.36am today to Oxford Road, near the Beresford Road junction, where a Volvo Estate ambulance had collided with a Citroen Xsara.

Police spokesman Chris Kearney said: "The ambulance had its blue lights on and was responding to an incident when it collided with a car which pulled out from the junction.

"There were no injuries, but the road has been closed while the incident is ongoing and traffic is being re-directed up Western Elms Avenue."
