A PALM tree was set alight outside Apex Plaza in Reading town centre last night.

Firefighters from Wokingham Road station were called to the Forbury Road complex at around 7pm.

They spent around half-an-hour tackling the flames, which caused partial damage to the tree.

The fire is thought to have been started deliberately by a group of youngsters.
