COMEDIAN Billy Connolly is bringing his debut collection of fine art to Reading's Castle Galleries on Saturday.

Castle Galleries in Reading will be displaying prints by Billy Connolly, inset, including Walkies, pictured

It is the first time the BAFTA nominated actor's art work has been exhibited to the public. The collection of six prints of pen and ink drawings, entitled Born On A Rainy Day, took Connolly two years to create and will be available to buy.

He said: "Art, for me, bears no relation to comedy or music. My art is pure and un-judged. I am creating it for myself. It is personal and private whereas with a film, comedy show or music you expect people to be critiquing, watching and assessing. Art is different, it liberates you."

Castle Galleries in Chain Street will also be playing host to award-winning artists Peter Smith, from 1-4pm on Saturday. His appearance co-incides with the launch of The Lost Impossimals - the latest collection of Peter's endearing animal characters.
