Olympic torchbearers are named
MORE than 30 people from Reading and the surrounding villages have been chosen to carry the Olympic Torch.
The list published today includes people from Reading, Pangbourne, Swallowfield, Winnersh and Wokingham. Dozens more have been chosen from Thatcham, Newbury and Hungerford.
Many will carry the historic flame when it comes to Reading on July 10 and 11, with others being selected to take part elsewhere in Berkshire and the South East, including Theale, Bracknell and as far a field as Bognor Regis.
They include Quentin Gunderson, 40, headteacher of The Lighthouse Group in Calcot, a charity providing education for pupils excluded from school, equalities campaigner, Lorna Mcardle, 43, from Reading.
If you are a torchbearer, you must have an interesting story to tell. Share it with The Chronicle by calling 0118 955 3308 or emailing agore@berksmedia.co.uk

Report commentGreat story, Richard, and a wonderful achievement as well as a big thank-you to your donor family. Check out Ian Harding, also carrying torch in Reading on the same day as you, who has had a liver transplant and is a great tennis player and an amazingly brave guy!
