'Good Samaritan' shoppers chase bag thief
DETECTIVES want to trace two have-a-go heroes who chased a lanky thief who snatched a woman's handbag outside a shopping mall.
The two Good Samaritans rushed to the 21-year-old victim's aid when a man grabbed her brown Stefano bag while she sat using her mobile phone on a wall by the 99p Store outside Broad Street Mall, in Reading town centre, at 11.50am on Saturday, March 10.
But they failed to catch him and he made off with the bag containing a snake print purse, a cashpoint card and £50 in cash.
The thief is white, skinny, 5ft 11ins tall and wore a grey and blue hooded top with white stripes, dark tracksuit bottoms and black trainers.
Contact police on 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.

Report commentWell that description could pretty much apply to the majority of people hanging around that area.
And was it really necessary to name the brand of the handbag - the poor woman must be embarrassed enough by the whole ordeal.
