A FIRE crew spent 45 minutes dealing with a mystery incident in woodland off Nightingale Lane, Mortimer, at 7.45am today after a cardboard box was set ablaze.

Fire fighter Lee Glover, from the Whitley Wood Road station, said: "I couldn't tell you what started it because the box was burnt so badly, but I think it's safe to presume it was not an accident based on the location and the time of the morning."
