Spin doctor: YouTube sensation Helen Buckley adjusts her hula camera.

A FORMER Reading photography student's head is spinning after a mesmerising rise to internet stardom.

Helen Buckley has clocked up more than half a million hits on the Youtube video of her hula hoop dancing and the number of viewers is spiralling every day.

Helen, who graduated from Thames Valley University in 2006 with a BA in Professional Photographic Imaging, filmed the three minute clip in her back garden in Hackney, east London, after Christmas, fitting a Go Pro Hero Camera inside her hula hoop so it appears she is spinning around it.

She initially set it up to test the camera, which her parents bought her as a Christmas present, but since then the video has appeared in a national newspaper and on US television show Right This Minute.

On Wednesday it had already reached 501,899 hits and the 27-year-old art gallery co-ordinator said: "It's just numbers to me, I can't quite comprehend it. I wasn't expecting the test to be so popular, if I had known thousands of people would see it I would have done something better!"

She has received more than 800 message posts commenting on her work and is preparing to make new videos in the coming months.
