DETECTIVES are hunting a masked robber who forced a woman to hand over her purse in a terrifying knife-point raid.

The 30-year-old victim was walking in Milford Road, Reading, at 7.15pm on Tuesday when her attacker pounced - approaching her from behind and brandishing a rusty pen-knife.

He snatched a burgundy Dune purse containing £30 from her handbag before running off towards Richfield Avenue.

The robber, who obscured his face with a black scarf, is in his thirties, 5ft 11ins tall and of average build. He wore scruffy and dirty black clothing and a beanie hat and has a local accent with a hint of Scottish.

Witnesses should contact Detective Sergeant Andy Beeney on 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
