MOTORISTS escaped unharmed after a four car motorway smash during the evening rush hour yesterday (Tuesday).

The vehicles were in collision on the M4 westbound carriageway between junctions 11 and 12 near Reading shortly after 6.15pm.

The cars suffered minor damage, but the Highways Authority closed two lanes while crews from Wokingham Road fire station spent an hour disconnecting the car batteries and checking for fuel leaks.
