Royals prizes kick off hospice online auction
THE Chronicle has joined forces with Reading Football Club to launch an online auction, offering an array of unique prizes in aid of the Duchess of Kent House Charity (DOKHC).
Hitting computer desks from today (Friday), the auction features a bounty of exclusive items, all available to the highest bidders.
Reading FC marketing director, Emma Pierce, has been working hard with club management to arrange the selection of prizes. Lots up for grabs include: a Reading FC shirt signed by the players; an opportunity for a meet and greet with Reading's official football mascot Kingsley; an executive box at Madejski Stadium for the Reading v Leeds United match on Saturday, April 7; a three-course meal for four at Barts Grill and Restaurant in Wokingham Road; and a plush Fortnum and Mason hamper.
George Solly, director of fundraising at the DOKHC, said: "We are very pleased to be working with Reading Football Club and The Chronicle on this innovative and exciting online auction. We would like to thank all those that have donated these fantastic prizes and wish good luck to all bidders in this win-win fundraiser!"
Every year Reading FC teams up with a local charity to assist them in their fundraising efforts, and for 2012 the baton has been passed to the DOKHC. The hospice marks its 20th anniversary this year and has planned a number of events to celebrate, starting with the auction. Other events acknowledging the charity's milestone and its partnership with Reading FC include a charity ball, a Zumbathon and a fashion show.
