Winter Wonderland: A snowy view from a Barkham window this morning - by Abi Turley

BERKSHIRE is covered in a blanket of snow today.

The snow set in from the west yesterday afternoon and was falling across the county by the early evening.

The downfall continued throughout the night, leaving around four inches of snow on the ground.

The Met Office continues to have an amber "be prepared" warning for the South East but is not predicting any more snow.

Temperatures are not expected to get above freezing, creating icy conditions on the roads, and motorists are urged to take extreme caution and consider if their journey is really necessary.

Reading Buses said services are operating normal routes - except for Premier Route 5, which is not serving Hexham Road, Corbridge Road and Newcastle Road, but is going down Northumberland Avenue instead.

The bus company is also warning passengers to expect delays due to the poor road conditions.

UPDATE: 1pm

All Reading Buses services are operating normal routes but passengers are warned to expected delays due to poor road conditions.
