A MUM who waited ten years for her partner to propose has clinched the perfect prize at her first wedding fair.

Nicki Wright, 35, from Dwyer Road in Reading, won a wedding dress after paying just £1 to enter the prize draw at Reading's Hilton Hotel Wedding Fair on Sunday.

She said: "I bought a ticket and so did my dad, Dave. He said he would try and be lucky for me, but I didn't think anything of it and after about an hour and a half at the fair, we had to leave."

Nicki and fiance Mark went to her parent's house for lunch with two-and-a-half year-old daughter Chloe when Nicki received a phone call from a friend [WOULD RATHER NOT GIVE NAME] saying her name had been called out as the winner of the dress.

Nicki said: "Mark ran home to check and picked up the message on our answerphone saying that we had won.

"I was on such a high, and then I got a phone call later that evening from Village Brides in Spencers Wood, the shop that was offering the prize, confirming that I was definitely the winner - I was so excited, I just welled up. I never thought I would win - no one ever thinks it will happen to them."

Nikki will now get to choose a dress from the Violet Rose range at the shop in time for her wedding next year, although the couple are yet to set a date. She said: "This is obviously a huge help because we have got the little one to think about, so we didn't want to go crazy with money.

"Mark and I got engaged on Christmas Day - I never thought he would ask me, so I was keen to go to a wedding fair as soon as possible because it was so exciting, and then this all happened.

"We still can't believe it really."
