A 40-YEAR-OLD businessman was robbed of £6,000 in the driveway of his Purley home after being trailed from a bank by two thugs.

The victim had withdrawn the cash from Lloyds TSB in Tilehurst Triangle last Thursday before driving home in his Ford Transit, but as he got out of the vehicle in Lilac Close at ariound 12.30pm, two white men approached him and one demanded: "Give me the six grand."

He was then punched in the face several times, before they grabbed the money from the dashboard and ran off.

The men are in their late teens or early 20s, medium build and around 5ft 7ins tall. Both wore jeans and one wore a dark blue or black hooded top and the other was dressed in light blue or grey.

PC Snezhanna Lennon said: "This is an isolated incident and we believe the offenders may have witnessed the man withdrawing the cash from the bank shortly after midday. They may have been driving a small red hatchback."
