A CYCLIST was rushed to hospital this morning after colliding with a car in west Reading.

The elderly man collided with the vehicle at around 9.15am in Portman Road, opposite The Globe Church, and was taken to hospital by ambulance.

A helicopter from Isle of Wight and Hampshire Air Ambulance Service was deployed and landed in the Tesco car park but was not needed.

Police officers also attended and took over from passers-by who had stopped to direct traffic around the blockage on the westbound carriageway.
