KNIFE-wielding robbers stole cash from a terrified man and pushed him to the ground as he walked home in Whitley last night.

The 43-year-old victim was walking along Northumberland Avenue at 11.30pm when the three thugs, one brandishing a knife, confronted him. He was forced to hand over around £50 and a key before being shoved to the ground and managing to run away.

The attackers are white and police want to hear from anyone who might have seen them hanging around near the Co-op store, at the junction of Whitley Wood Lane and Northumberland Avenue, shortly before they struck.

Call 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
