A YOUNG woman suffered back injuries when a gangly thug mugged her and sent her sprawling to the pavement.

The 20-year-old victim, from Bournemouth, was walking along Norcot Road, Tilehurst, close to the junction with Oxford Road at 11.30am on Friday when a man approached and demanded she hand over her mobile phone and purse.

When the woman, who did not have a phone, handed over the purse he pushed her to the ground.

Her attacker is white, 6ft tall, in his twenties, of slim build with severe acne and wore a dark baseball cap.

Witnesses should contact Reading CID on 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
