POLICE are hunting a man seen yards from where a car was set on fire in Caversham on Wednesday.

A black Fiat Panda was set on fire at around 10.45pm in Ibstone Avenue damaging the bonnet, front grille and number plate.

PC Julie Farragher said: "I'm keen to trace a man who was seen in the area at the time.

"He was wearing a light coloured jumper and possibly a grey hat and may have been carrying a drinks bottle. An empty drinks bottle smelling of petrol was found at the scene.

"I am also keen to speak to anyone who saw any suspicious activity around this area of Caversham between 10pm and 10.45pm."

Anyone with information should contact PC Farragher on the non-emergency police number, 101 or call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
