Royals striker hit with drink-drive ban
READING FC striker Mathieu Manset has been banned from driving for a year after refusing a breath test.
The 22-year-old striker was arrested in Southampton on December 18 on suspicion of drink driving.
He gave one sample but refused to take the necessary second test at a police station.
The first test recorded 76 microgrammes of alcohol in 100 millilitres of Manset's breath. The legal limit is 35 microgrammes.
Manset, of Michael's Chase, Caversham, appeared in Southampton Magistrates Court on Wednesday and admitted the charge of failing without reasonable excuse to provide a specimen of breath.
The 6ft 2ins Frenchman was fined £1,400 and banned from the road for a year. It is believed Reading FC may also fine the player.
Royals signed Manset from Hereford United a year ago, but he has been a bit-part player for Brian McDermott's team this season.
