Lightning strike causes delays for rail commuters
RAIL commuters face 90 minute delays on their way home after signalling problems were caused by a lightning strike.
A storm this afternoon caused problems in the Southall area, which has led to delays for services between Reading and Paddington.
Delays are expected to last until about 6pm and passengers are advised to use South West Trains services from Waterloo.

Report commentIt is nice to see the rail networks using the 'old faithful' of mother nature once again. It sure does beat their usual signal failure or even worse mechanical failure cop-outs. The ticket prices may soar, the onboard facilities prices may also rise but you can be sure of one thing; trains will never arrive on time in the UK...
