Nurses support the Midnight Walk

A TEAM of nurses are going the extra mile to drive home the importance of supporting Sue Ryder's Nettlebed hospice in the Midnight Walk.
Workers at the hospice will be on hand on Saturday, May 14, to offer advice and information about the service they provide to patients suffering from life-limiting illnesses.
Jan Gibbs, 63, an ambassador for this year's Green Park walk, has worked at the hospice for more than two decades after witnessing first-hand the support that was given to her dad. She said: "It'll be great to pass on what a wonderful place the hospice is. I've never been involved in the walk before, so this will be a new experience, but I'm really looking forward to it.
"Lots of people still don't know about the hospice, so it will be a good opportunity to spread the word."
Pamela Johnstone, 58, added: "Lots of people see the Sue Ryder shops but don't realise what goes on behind the scenes. I used to have a regular office job, but after my sister died from cancer, I decided I wanted to give something back.
"I've been at the hospice for over 12 years now and it's such a rewarding career."
Carla Sweetman, 23, joined the team two years ago. She said: "I've lived in Nettlebed all my life and I used to go for walks with my family in the hospice's grounds when I was younger. I feel like I do a good deed every day working here."
The team will cheer on women as they complete the 10K walk, helping to raise the £1.4 million that is needed every year to keep the hospice running.
