A WOMAN driver was arrested today by police investigating the Caversham bus shelter tragedy.

Reading Borough Council customer service adviser Catriona Scott died on Tuesday from multiple injuries suffered the previous day when a black Toyota Rav 4x4 careered off the road and into the bus shelter in Briants Avenue where she was standing with her 12-year-old son.

Mrs Scott, 44, died at the Royal Berkshire Hospital, but her son is said to be "serious but stable" in intensive care at Oxford's John Radcliffe Hospital.

Police arrested a 34-year-old woman from the Caversham area today. She was questioned about the incident on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving and was later freed on bail to report back to police on Tuesday, April 26.

Police want to trace a potential witness to the incident, which happened at 1.25pm on Monday. She is described as "a white lady with white hair, wearing a blue coat with a motif on the chest".

Anyone with information should call 08458 505 505 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
