A WOMAN and a young boy were badly injured today when a car collided with a bus stop in Caversham.

A 45-year-old woman is dangerously ill after being taken to the Royal Berkshire Hospital when a black Toyota Rav 4 ran into the bus stop in Briants Avenue at around 1.25pm. A 12-year-old boy is also being treated for serious injuries.

The road was closed between the junction with Nelson Road and South View Avenue but has since reopened.

Traffic officer Sgt Richard Thorpe said: "There were plenty of people who were in the area at the time of this collision and I urge anyone with information to come forward.

"I am particularly interested to hear from anyone who saw the Toyota being driven beforehand, and anyone who saw what happened and hasn't yet spoken to the police."

Anyone with information should call 08458 505 505 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
