Village post office saviour honoured by Queen

A WOMAN who led a campaign to save a village post office and run it as a co-operative receives an award in the New Year honours list.
Julie Noakes, a former town planner, is made MBE for services to the community in Bradfield and said: "I'm absolutely thrilled. It's been a real group effort, I accept it on that basis."
The CBE goes to Michael Fulford. Professor of Archaeology at Reading University, who is also director of the Silchester Town Life Project
and chairs the Committee for the Museum of English Rural Life.
Meanwhile the OBE goes to Reading men John Lynch. head of passenger services at Heathrow Airport for the UK Border Agency, and Gary Pugh, Director of Forensic Science for the Metropolitan Police. There is also an OBE for Robyn Jones, chief executive and founder of Dunsden-based catering company Charlton House for services to the hospitality industry.
Receiving an MBE for services to the community in Berkshire is Reading woman Rosemary Tocock, chairman of the Berklshire and Reading branches of the Multiple Sclerosis Society, and there is a CBE for Thames Valley Police chief constable Sara Thornton.
Two employees on the Crown Estate, Windsor, are honoured. William Cathcart, Superintendent of the Parks, becomes a Member of the Victorian Order, and the Royal Victorian Medal goes to horticulturalist David Hutchins.

Nicholas Reeves, President, Chartered Institution of Water and Environmental Management, for services to the environment. (Slough).
Edward Smith, former head of customer standards, Department for Work and Pensions. (Bracknell).
MBE
Clive Bonnett, senior clinical specialist at Broadmoor Hospital.
David Clarke, chief executive, British Computer Society, for services to the IT Industry. (Hungerford).
Eleanor Cryer, for services to People with Learning Disabilities in Slough.
Raymond Edwards, chief executive of the Limbless Association, for services to disabled people. (Sandhurst).
Charlotte Fielder, higher executive officer, Heathrow Detection, UK Border Agency. (Old Windsor).
Keith Mosley, Ministry of Defence. (Bracknell)
Stephen Simmons, for services to dental healthcare in north London. (Sunningdale).
Michael Todhunter, for services to special needs education and the Berkshire community. (Wantage)
