Council services - when they're open and shut

HERE is your guide to Reading Borough Council services over Christmas and the New Year holiday.
The council call centre will be open from 8am-3pm on Christmas Eve and New Year's Eve but will be closed on Christmas Day, Boxing Day, and bank holiday Monday and Tuesday, December 27 and 28.
The usual out-of-hours emergency telephone service will operate throughout the Christmas and New Year period on 0118 937 3737.
The Civic Centre customer hub for face-to-face inquiries, including reception desk, revenues and benefits, planning help desk, and housing, is open between 9am-3pm on Christmas Eve and New Year's Eve.
The Post Office at the Civic Centre is open until 1pm on Christmas Eve and until 4.30pm on New Year's Eve.
Smallmead Household Waste and Recycling Centre will be open every day from Monday to Sunday from 8am-6pm, except on Christmas Day when it is closed. Information at www.re3.org.uk
Christmas Trees can be recycled at eight dedicated sites between January 4 and 31 at: Mapledurham playing fields, Clayfield Copse, Kensington Road Rec, Meadway Recreation ground, Prospect Park car park, Whitley Wood Park car park , Palmer Park Sports Stadium, Tilehurst Allotments, Armour Hill. Trees can also be recycled as usual at the Household Waste Recycling Centre.
Anyone who cannot recycle their Christmas trees can use the green garden waste collection service when it resumes on January 24, chopping trees into pieces to ensure they fit in the green waste bin or bag. Sport and Leisure Centres
Arthur Hill Pool and Fitness Studio, Highdown Sports Centre, Palmer Park Sports Stadium, and also Rivermead Leisure Complex will be open througout, except Christmas Day, Boxing Day and New Year's Day. Highdown will also be closed for the day on Monday, January 3.
General renovation work means the Central Swimming Pool is shut until Tuesday, January 4, and Meadway Sports Centre until Sunday, January 2.
All Reading borough libraries (Central, Battle, Whitley, Palmer Park, Tilehurst, Southcote and Caversham) will be open from 9am-1pm on Christmas Eve and closed from December 25-28, opening as normal on December 29 and 30 and closing at 4pm on New Year's Eve. They also be closed from January 1-3, with normal opening hours resuming from January 4.
Reading Museum and Town Hall is open until 3pm on Christmas Eve and will re-open on Tuesday, January 4.
